Week 8: Week of Blessings

Monday morning we were cleaning and I heard a knock at the door. Sister Whitmer opens the door, and it was the Elders from our district! They said they tried to call us Sunday night and that morning. I had the sim card, so I looked and there were 18 missed calls. I had turned my phone on silent for church and forgot to turn it back on! Oops! They came to see if we were still alive! Haha!

This week we went tracting on the sentinel trail, seeing if people would open up any page on the Book of Mormon and highlight anything with Jesus Christ in it. We only got two people to do it and one was already a member! Haha! While we were walking we saw a waterfall and turtles! It was really fun.

We went to the temple this week. The Spokane temple is really small. When they told me it was small I didn't realize that it was that small. It's really beautiful though. It was awesome going in and I just felt peace after. We then went to a members house for dinner and they were in the process of moving so they gave us a house tour and it's gorgeous.

I had my very first blitz!!! It was really cool. Although we went to a neighborhood with a lot of lifer' s, and they are not really nice to Mormon missionaries in the past. So we just waved and smiled at them. We didn't really find anyone but that's ok we have a few cards suggesting to help them with service. We went to Costa Vida for lunch with our district so that was fun.

Yesterday was a day of blessings. Our investigator that's getting baptized this Sunday, her sister and brother in law came come from salt lake and he's going to baptize her!  She was so worried and scared that they weren't going to but they are!!!  We got a new investigator, he's 16 and he started going to a different ward because of his friend, and he's going to seminary. We gave him a church tour of our church and we asked what he feels about this church and he had the biggest smile on his face and he said Joy. He knows a couple of young men from our ward so it will be an easy transition. Hopefully. Then we got a referral for this family who's going through a tough time. They live in our apartment complex and they seem solid too!!!! The work right now in this ward is amazing. They have worked and prayed so hard for the longest time. God knows that he can trust them!

Week 7: Firsts for everything!!!

So this week had so many good things happen! I cant use Investigators names so sorry if this gets confusing.

Last week on Monday was so much fun! We went to downtown Spokane with all of our district. It was a lot of fun. We went to the mall and went to all the tourist shops and I bough huckleberry brownie mix. 😂  I bought a couple of other touristy things. We saw the falls and went to see the big red wagon and the children blocks. The falls were so big and cool. They were amazing to watch. We were going to go on the gondola but it was closed! we will go back when its opened up again. We saw the Garbage Goat!!! It is a metal goat that sucks up your garbage and its really cute and weird. Who thought of that must have a really creative mind. Then we went to the mall again to bath and body works! The lady that worked there was so nice and she had a lot of friends that have gone on missions. She gave us multiple containers to put stuff in. So this past week I have been smelling good.😄

I had my first exchanges! It was so fun I went with sister Vance to her area. She is so funny and sarcastic. We went tracking! My first time tracking to! She is so sarcastic and funny. It was really fun to have doors being slammed in your face. we went to this really fancy neighborhood right next to the lake. It was so pretty! Then we went to a members house to eat dinner. I was already so full I couldn't eat much. Its funny I've probably had more rhubarb now then I've ever had in my entire life!

Wednesday we were still doing exchanges and we went to do service at the food bank and we tossed food into boxes. We asked if there was anything else we could help with so we go to put on yellow vests and help people put stuff in there car! It was really fun!  Then we went to Newman lake correlation and saw some less active. There are a lot of less active in that ward. Not a lot of investigators. Which is sad because its why we are here.

Thursday was a day where the adversary did not want us to do the work. All of our appointments cancelled. Sister Whitmer was not feeling very good so we stayed home. We did text all of out investigators and potential. We did some service that morning but nothing much.

Friday was new missionary training! Funny story I thought that is started at 8 so we rushed and we got there at 8:15 so we thought we were late! All the doors were locked  We called the assistants and we were like the doors are all locked! and they were like that's because it starts at 9. I felt so bad because we were freaking out! At least we were super early! Haha! The training was really fun and really long. I got to see sister Lesuma again which was so fun! We barely had time to catch up!

Saturday was my favorite day so far. We went and saw one of our investigators that is on date for June 2nd!!! We were talking to her and I followed the spirit and pulled out this scripture that i studied that morning and we could tell it touched her heart. So that was really cool. After that we pulled some weeds at a less active members house. We talked with her and her daughter who isn't a member. we saw the biggest bumble bee ever! I was so scared! I'm such a wimp when it comes to those kinds of things. After that we went to the church to fill up the baptismal font for one of our investigators. We were so hungry and all we brought was popcorn as a snack so when we went to the kitchen in the church our other ward was there because they had just finished with a funeral. They gave us all the left over food they had. It was such an amazing blessing. I couldn't believe it. Then we had a baptism!!! It was so amazing. The spirit was so strong! sorry cant send pictures because of a safety thing. It was so cool! Then we had the ward BBQ after which was very convenient we thought. 😂  Then we were putting together a little book for her with cute notes!

Sunday she got confirmed! Which was so cool! She said she could really feel it too! We went to a members house the Andersen's. They are the funniest people! They made us sourdough waffles and  huckleberry ice cream for dinner!😁 Apparently he has Call ancestry and showed me this copy of Anson Call's Journal and it was really cool. He recorded about when Joseph Smith died and how no body knew who should be the next prophet but when Brigham Young spoke they could see Joseph Smith in him some how. And he just talks about a lot of that really cool stuff. I've had so many people come up to me and ask if I'm related to them and I have no idea! I guess I know what I need to do when I come home😁

Anyway that was my week. A lot of good and a lot of bad. I hope you all had a good week and let me know about it!!!!!!

Lots of Love,
Sister Call

Week 6: Mother's Day and p-day pics!

This week has been full of good stuff!!!
Tuesday we were having a lesson with an investigator and she lived in California before she moved here and the members there were so nice to here so she took missionary discussions. She moved here and called us! We had an awesome lesson and we asked her to be baptized and she said yes! She started crying then we all started to cry and it was a very special spiritual moment that i will always keep in my heart. I'm so grateful for that. Its cool to see the lord preparing people. Later that day we showed our other investigator that's also on date the church. We gave her a church tour and showed her the baptismal font and what she will be doing. The spirit was there! As we were locking everything up after the church tour we found the attic to the church! It was so funny we recorded the adventure we had and found some cool stuff. We thought we were so special until Sunday when we told everyone they all had been up there too. So I guess it wasn't as cool as we thought. Haha!!!

Wednesday we drove up to newmen lake and took pictures. I was really cool it reminded me of bear lake kind of. There was a lot of trees in the background. It was still really cool. we went to a members house for a blessing and then they fed us! It was super nice of them. We really didn't want to eat because we felt bad but they insisted. It was so nice.

Thursday was my first zone conference, It was really cool. We are now a Facebook mission!!! Yay!! For proselyting purpose only. So I had to unfollow everyone. So sorry!!! We can only friend people in our area. Its really effective and who would've thought that missionaries could have Facebook!

Friday was a long day, We got on Facebook and cleaned everything up. We went to a dinner and they had a BIG protective dog. It was really scary😅 It kept barking at us when we did anything. It was just trying to protect his family from strangers. After we ate he calmed down and he was the cutest friendliest dog.

Saturday we did more stuff on Facebook because it took a lot of time!!! We did service for second harvest. We helped the mail men carry all the donated food into a big truck. It was really fun. We met a lot of people too! Then we went to costa vida!!! (I'm still sad theirs no chick-fil-a here though)

Sunday was the best day!!! Mothers day!!! We had the longest 4 hours of church ever! It was really cool though. Relief society they gave us chocolate strawberries. yum! We went around and talked about what we learned from our moms. It was cool the spirit was strong!!! Then got to talk to the family!! That was really cool. We went to a members house to use there I pad. They feed us after which was super nice. They had a bunch of little kids and babies and they were so cute and funny! to bad i couldn't hold them😐

Anyway that was my week. I still want to hear about yours! Send me pics!! I love you all!!!
Love always,
